I hate trying to write about myself. However, being a fan of blogs, I find the 'about' page is usually one of the things that I look for when I visit a blog for the first time. They are uncomfortable to write and never come out in the right way; what do I tell you? Why would you care? I have no idea but I'll try to objectively tell you about myself.
I live in Vancouver, BC and have for over nineteen years. It's a beautiful city and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I haven't travelled too much but I have made several trips to Japan and Korea and I love it!
Asian culture is an amazing thing. I married a lovely Korean girl in 2007 and we couldn't be happier. Another bonus is that I have a perfect excuse for taking annual trips to Korea to see the in-laws.
After many years in manufacturing I moved to the tech industry in 2000; just in time for the bubble to burst. In fact it had burst while I was still in school but no one knew it at the time. No regrets though, I've worked for six different companies and they've all been cool in their own way. Besides getting to work with technology all day, the best part has always been the people. I've never met a geek I didn't like...
Currently I'm working at a small mac linux software shop in Vancouver. I work as a team lead in the Quality Assurance department and have part time duties as a Project Manager on a certification project.
My previous two jobs have been with mac development shops but now I work mostly with Linux. At home I have a MacBook Pro and at work, it's Ubuntu. Occasionally I still need to use Windows but not too much these days.
I love the Canucks and I'm also a big fan of Formula 1. Other than that, I'm not too interested in sports. I love everything about technology but I'm not a gamer. I like hardware more than software, servers more than clients and have concluded that while it can be cool in moderation, for the most part Flash sucks.
That's it in a nutshell. Do you know me after reading this? No, but you get a little taste.
